13th April 8am - The 7 remaining pups are looking fat and contented. The two smallest of the litter seem to be doing exceptionally well.
14th April 8am - We had an extremely good night with the 7 pups. Maggie is doing extremely well with the pups now after her intially ignoring them. We decided to change the first girls name to Kasey - and its still looking like we'll keep her.
14th April 9-20pm - All going extremely well. Maggie is being a great mum now.
16th April 7-20pm - Nothing new to add about the litter as a whole. They're still going extremely well.
16th April - We would just like to acknowledge our appreciation to the many other Mini Bull Terrier breeders that are contacting us and giving their best wishes.
We're amazed at the friendliness and advice/help that people are willing to offer as we begin our breeding program.
If any of those people would like to for us to add their webpage link from our site to theirs, please feel free to drop us an email. We also do web design as a part time business - and we're happy to offer free advice and assistance to ANY of those kind people that have emailed us.
SPECIAL mention here must go to Julie Willams of Minibrook Kennels who has gone above and beyond in her assistance to us with this litter. Shes been an absolute GEM taking 3am phone calls from us, helping at the birth and providing never ending aid. We couldn't have done it without you Julie.
Another MONSTER mention for the fantastic support of Melissa Allen who is puppy-sitting for us whilst we're at work. Melissa, again, we couldn't have done it without you.
Others that have been inspiring in their help and time they are giving us are Trevor & Gillian Costello, Pauline Moore, Gail Allen, Danielle & Margaret Kirkham of Clemkirk Kennels and Kerry's mum Robyn Collins. Guys....you ALL know what we've gone through in the first week and we sincerely appreciate all the help.
22nd April 6-00pm - All is still going terrific. We've recently discovered a little black patch above Phoebe's right eye. The pups are feeding extremely well and we've extended their feeds out a little now as they've all got big fat bellies. Maggie is REALLY looking after them now. If you dont see her in the webcam..shes usually only a foot away off to the right of the computer
23rd April 7-30pm - We're astounded at how quickly they're growing and how much weight they're gaining. We've spead them out to 4 hourly bottle feeds, with Maggie supplementing whenever she gets the urge. Maggie definitely hasn't got enough milk to sustain the puppies on her own.
25th April 11-30am - Noticing the pups all starting to try and walk now. They're lifting themselves up and kinda shuffling around a little bit.
1st May 3-30pm - Most of the pups are opening their eyes now. Nikki is leading the way and Dixie is lagging behind. They're all KINDA walking and are getting a lot more demanding. Trying to SUCKLE on anything they can get their mouths on.
4th May 7-30pm - First feed on solids tonight. They had some weet-bix and LOVED it. Weaning them off the bottle.
8th May 7-30pm - Introducing the puppies to the BARF diet. They're all being a little fussy with different things at the moment - but the one thing that they DO love is the raw mince. They're starting to be a bit more work in the 'toilet' area now too (god help us). Maggie is doting over them a WHOLE lot more at the moment. All of them are VERY smoochy and love a cuddle and a snuggle on the couch in front of the tv. (nahh..Im not going to say Lassie is their favourite show....though they do like the dog out of the Simpsons)
15th May 4.30pm - Had a great week with the pups - they're getting easier to look after and they're LOVING their solids etc.
We're monitoring a couple of the pups very closely for any hearing issues at the moment. Its darn hard to get them to react at the best of times -especially when the little gremlins want to sleep - but there is maybe one that seems to be not as alert in that area. Tests at vets coming up next week. Unfortunately hearing problems in white bull terriers is somewhat common place - but TOUCH WOOD, everything will be fine.
29th May 4.30pm - Probably our last post in this section before the puppies go. Most will be on their way next weekend. Its all pretty exciting and at the same time sad. We'll miss these little treasures.
5th June 5.30pm - Three of the puppies have gone off to their new homes this weekend. Phoebe, Nikki & Cooper have ventured off to start their new lives. Barnesy is going tomorrow, Kasey is on her way to Canberra then to NSW with Kerry next weekend, then Nina is jumping on a jet the following Monday to head off to sunny Brisbane.
Its all been a wonderful experience for us. A ton of work, but 2 tons of pleasure. We're going to miss everyone of the little gremlins for sure.
I won't be posting anymore pics of the puppies on this page for a bit, but as the new owners send me in pics over the months/years, I will find post those somewhere here in the site.
Thanks to everyone that has supported the webcam, I'm not too sure what I'm going to do with that. It may be that I keep it going and have it pointing out into the yard where Maggie and Dixie will be kept. Any input you guys that are reading this will have on the matter 'could' help me decide what I'm going to do.
Getting back to the webcam, its been amazing. In 7 weeks of it being up and running, theres been 36,200 hits until today. That is UNREAL!! Thanks again.
We will be possibly having another litter this time next year....then a 2 year break and another (with Dixie probably). I WILL run the webcam definitely for these events! KEEP OUR WEBSITE BOOKMARKED!!!
Geez we're going to miss these little guys.
